Hughes & Hughes Riesling

Mewstone Hughes & Hughes Riesling is sourced from across Tasmania, including the Derwent and Coal River Valleys near Hobart as well as sites in the state's north-west.

The Hughes & Hughes label, made in small batches, allows winemaker Jonathan Hughes to experiment with techniques learned from his travels around the globe.

Most of the fruit is soaked on skins for up to 24 hours before the juice is slowly fermented in stainless steel. In some years, a small portion of the fruit is fermented on skins.

Fermentation is stopped when the sugars and acids come into balance. The wine is then matured on lees prior to bottling without fining or filtration.

Pale straw, Mewstone Hughes & Hughes Riesling has sweet citrus and green apple flavours balanced by crisp acidity. Cellaring potential is seven years.
